๐What Do Anesthesiology Physicians Love About Their Job?
"There is a lot of production pressure in an academic setting."โ Anesthesiology Physician
"I'm in Chicago, IL. Locums/Independent contractor providing anesthesia and interventional pain services for several hospitals. For the days I work, the hospital has the option to utilize me in any way between pain and anesthesia. For example, I find out the day before that I am in the pain clinic. Or another day they may place me doing OBGYN anesthesia or supervising CRNAS. I do not have the choice. The one thing I do not like is getting follow up calls and questions about injections and medication refills on my free time for which i'm usually not paid. "โ Anesthesiology Physician
"Increased vacation time"โ Anesthesiology Physician
"Eventually I would like better work/life balance. However, right now I am choosing to work hard and get ahead with my savings and investments."โ Anesthesiology Physician
"Call shift pay difference. More post-call time off. More respect/appreciation "โ Anesthesiology Physician
"It is a difficult job requiring a broad skill set and dealing with high risk patients. Can be very stressful. Leadership is supportive but usually not very responsive to making recommended changes. Staffing can be very tight at times and workload can be very high on a daily basis. Cover residents or crnas 30% of the time and work solo 70% of the time. flow could be improved with better staffing. Also very inefficient operating rooms which is never addressed by hospital leadership. "
